2019 Pet Blogger Challenge
If you have never been here before… Hi and welcome to WigglyButts.me! And Thanks for coming back, if you are a returning reader! I truly appreciate your readership!
WigglyButts.me is here for you! Providing you with helpful material is what I do [or at least that is the plan.]
You will read time and time again about the importance of the canine-hOoman bond. I hope the material you read here is found to be enlightening. I also hope that the posts here may prepare you for some situations that you never have to actually experience.
The bond that Pi and I have was not rainbows and unicorns from the get go [unless those unicorns were grumpy and always charged you with that one horn!]. We have had to build the trust between us and work together to be where we are today.
On that note… HAPPY BIRTHDAY PI!!! She turns six years old today and this also marks our one year bloggaversary!!!!!
Yay go us! Thank you so much for your support and interest!
Today Pi and I understand each other better than we ever have. Some days there are a few steps backwards, but then a nice sprint forward.
The key is paying attention to your canine buddy. They want to get to know us and please us. They want us to understand their interests and spend time with them.
Yep, this is a real relationship.
Our pups also want endless cuddles, kisses, treats and play time! I don’t know about your doggo, but Pi is a sucker for a belly rub and a good ear scratch. Hehehe [don’t tell her I gave away her secrets].
This post is inspired by GoPetFriendly.com and I am participating in their 9th Annual Pet Blogger Challenge. They ask questions about the blog and I answer them. Pretty simple.
Oh yeah…there is some exciting news announced in the post too!
So here goes…
//1//
For those who may be visiting your blog for the first time, how long have you been blogging and what is your main topic?
The WigglyButts.me blog went live a year ago on January 25, 2018. The date was important because it was Pi’s fifth birthday, and going live with a blog advocating for the canine hoOman bond was a birthday gift!
That also means…HAPPY BIRTHDAY PI!
//2//
What was your proudest blogging moment of 2018?
The blog was initially meant for a way to share what I have learned with friends and family. So aside from being proud of the launch, also gaining interest from strangers on social media is amazing. Now we have an extended doggo family!
//3//
What was the biggest blogging challenge you faced in 2018, and how did/will you tackle it?
Ahhhhh! There were sooooooo many challenges. Site design, social media, keeping/ making a schedule, and not to mention photography. Oh yeah… and all of those things are done by: ME!!!!!
Even after going live with WigglyButts.me I faced many web design challenges. Building the website was a rough journey in itself, but I have taken my web designing skills to another level.
There was plenty of research and testing that went into various front-end/ back-end design and development tools. At the end of the day, I found what worked for me through perseverance and I have the understanding that web design is ever evolving.

Which of your 2018 blog posts was your favorite and why? (Please include a link.)
Hmmmm… choosing one post to be my favorite is not easy. I really do not want to choose, because they all have a purpose and are written from the heart even if they are fact based.
However, My Dog Ate Rate Poison and Survived may have a leg up on the rest. This was the post that triggered the blog spark. Originally it was written as a journal entry. I had some spousal encouragement that other people needed to hear this story. Yes, it has a happy ending, but this story might help others in similar situations and they can have happily ever after as well. you can read it here.
//5//
Which of your 2018 posts was most popular with your audience? Why do you think it does so well?
So after the launch of the blog, My Dog Ate Rate Poison and Survived was among the first set of posts to be published. It was very dear to my heart and I wanted what I had learned to in turn help others.
I received feedback regarding this post and its impact on many dog lovers. My Dog Ate Rate Poison and Survived is not only a true story, but also a real scenario for many doggo lovers. Animals find their way into all sorts of situations and manmade items do not always make their lives easier.
The positive impact this post had on many people is why it is my favorite. I had folks tell me that reading that particular post helped them navigate through unexpected situations. There was a problem and one of many possible solutions.
Another quick read that is pretty popular is the Dog Names post. Who doesn’t need a name for their new buddy?

Did you implement a new series, feature, or practice on your blog in 2018 that you’re enjoying?
In 2018 the biggest practice in place that will continue in years to come, is Dog Food/Treat Recalls. It is so important for everyone to be updated on potentially harmful doggo grocery items in their cabinets as soon as possible.
The Dog food/Treat Recalls page is nestled on here On WigglyButts.me under the resources tab.
Usually recalls make the news weeks or months after the Food and Drug Administration has made a statement. That can be too late for many doggos. Therefore, on WigglyButts.me readers can become an Elite member of the League of WigglyButts and receive updates on recalled foods/treats conveniently in their email inbox.
Another fun practice that is dear to my heart is MyWigglyBuddies. These are a few of Pi’s friends that are also rescues. All of the doggos featured throughout the site are all rescues living happy fruitful lives! Check out MyWigglyBuddies here!

As the social media landscape changes, how are you promoting your blog posts and connecting with new readers?
Remember that one time I mentioned that web design is ever evolving? Well scratch that. EVERYTHING on the interwebs is ever changing!
I haven’t quite gotten the hang of content/material management for the blog as well as managing social media. While there is self growth with the internet everyday, it has been a challenge.
Although WigglyButts.me also has a Twitter handle, Instagram has been my main focus. I am working toward posting more frequently, but 2018 was more about getting out there, becoming familiar with the platform [even though it changes every two seconds], and having fun!

Looking forward to 2019, if you accomplish only one thing through your blog, what do you hope it is?
There is plenty to learn and work on in 2019. I look forward to accomplishing the goals I have set for this year [which will take plenty of hard work and dedication].
But I have to say… the main thing I really look forward to accomplishing is making a positive impact on lives [hO0man and doggo alike!] That is what WigglyButts.me is all about and I will spread the word!
Being a doggo lover is more than playing fetch. A doggo lover means being responsible, educated, and kind hearted toward our canine buddies. We all need a little saving and support.
I hope to reach at least 100 more people this year positively impact all of them!
//9//
What steps are you planning to take to ensure you reach your goal?
Pi continues to inspire me everyday, and learning from my canine buddy will guide me in reaching my goals for WigglyButts.me.
Planning ahead and posting consistently on the blog as well as social media will definitely help me reach more poeple this year. So get ready!!!
It won’t be easy, but nothing worth while ever is. Working full time and learning that my hubby and I are going to be first time parents [Surprise! It is a good thing we have been practicing our pawrenting with Pi] means that dedicating time specifically for the blog is key.
In order to be successful and accomplish the goals I have set for WigglyButts.me, then carving out time for MyWigglyButts family is what I will do!
//10//
Now it’s your turn! How can we help? Is there an area where you could use some advice, or an aspect of your blog that you’d like input on? Share it here, and we’ll answer you in comments!
This is my S.O.S!
What are some ways for me to grow my email list and grow my audience on social media? Currently, email sign up is available directly on the site in the footer, also on a few pages, and I have a small presence on Instagram.
Aside from posting consistently and SEO, what else should I be implementing?
HALP PLEASE!
summary
Blogging has been a very exciting journey and so much fun. Pi enjoys blogging too, because there is plenty of treats, play time. And when I pop out the laptop to work on the site she uses the opportunity to rack up more cuddle time. It is a win–win–win situation!
Thank you for your interest and support. I hope you stick around to explore the blog further. Tell me what you think in the comments below. Let me know if you have any burning questions.
