Yay! Congratulations on expanding your family with furry feet! If you haven’t yet, what are you waiting for? There are some really great names on this list and many will inspire you to think of even more names.

Naming a dog is important and so much fun! A great name is something that will stick and elicit a positive response from your dog. This is a name your forever friend will identify with so make it unforgettable.
Speaking of unforgettable, when rescuing a furry friend, they already have a name.
The name they have at the shelter or foster home may be brand new to the dog, or it may be the name they had upon arrival to their temporary home.
Why does it even matter where and when they got their name? Well, if it is a brand new name, then they simply may not know that yet. Training can get a little tricky, when your new buddy doesn’t know their name.
On the other hand, if your dog comes from a rough background, they may associate their name with negative vibes. In this case, they may not want to respond to you, may try to run and hide, or become aggressive when they hear their name.
Both of these situations offer a great opportunity to change their name and start with a clean slate [so to speak].
Choosing a name for your new buddy can be so much fun and there is much to consider.
Get your family and friends in for a brainstorming session! Take your dog’s gender, breed, personality, environment, and other characteristics into consideration when picking out the perfect name.

Choose something that resonates with you as well. After all, you are the one that will be saying, singing, shouting the name the most.
A great name can be one, two even three syllables. Make sure that it is easy to pronounce, and that your dog understands their name.

Pro tip: Be mindful when communicating with your dog. Meaning it is so common for a dog to think their name is “no,” “bad,” and “dog.” Watch out and catch yourself, before Baxter thinks his name is “No!”

Animal planet airs the puppy bowl every year a few hours before the Superbowl. If you like puppies and football, then you will love the Puppy Bowl. [#NotSponsored]
It’s cute. The puppies play on a makeshift football field, scoring points, socializing, and working their way toward MVP. The great thing about the entertainment from the puppy bowl, is that all of the pups seen in the “big game” are from shelters across america!
The Puppy bowl is an outlet to advocate for shelters and rescue animals. All of the participants of the puppybowl get adopted and move into their furrever homes!
